Notifresita: “Posh News” To Address Gentrification

Over the past few years, gentrification has reshaped parts of Central America, from coastal towns to major cities. While tourists and affluent locals enjoy gastro-pubs, wine bars, and trendy rooftop steakhouses, many vulnerable communities have been displaced.

To highlight this issue in an engaging and accessible way, I created Notifresita—roughly translated as PoshNews.

This weekly dispatch is presented by a stereotypical "posh person" whose detached, oblivious language contrasts sharply with the harsh realities on the ground. Through satire, Notifresita exposes how large sections of Central America's most vulnerable populations are being ignored and sidelined, while big corporations and political elites reap the benefits of the system.

This product has driven thousands of interactions, has sparked conversations about gentrification, and has reached an audience that had long been hesitant to engage with media outlets: gen-Z!
